Why Is There A Difference In The Amount Of Freespace Reported By DF vs DU?
NixCraft has an explanation of why df reports different amount freespace the du. I have been curious about this for some time now but never taken the time to find out why. According to the article 'FreeBSD: Why command df and du reports different output?' points to file descriptor as the main cause.
