Windows vs Linux: Security

The Register is an interesting article entitled 'Security Report: Windows vs Linux.' I don't want to spoil the article for you so please take some time to read it. There are several points in the article that I will be using in my discussions with other technology professionals. The article has also given me several items to consider while I am coding the next project. I really liked the Windows vs Linux Design section.

A Couple Of Unix / Linux Resources

The first resource is 'Newbie's Top Ten Commands.' This articles covers the command ls, tar, permissions suite, RPM, locate, grep, cat, pico/nano, man and apropos.

The other resource is from UnixMages.com they have the PDF 'Unix for the Beginning Mage.' This PDF using the metaphor of using spells and mages to teach the basics of learning Unix command line.

Hot-Plugging USB on Linux

The article 'Hot-Plugging USB on Linux' from Linux Magazine is a quick read on USB on a modern linux distribution. I recently configured a USB storage device to work with Slackware 10.1, this article would have been helpful then.
