XAMPP

XAMPP is a project aimed at installing and configuring Apache, MySQL, PHP and Perl on a Linux, Windows, SPARC or MacOS X syste.

A few weeks back I did an install of Apache, MySQL and PHP on a laptop running Windows XP. The install process was not overally difficult but it tool about 6 hours to perform the install and configure the software. Most of my time was spent in reading the documentation and rebooting the laptop.

You can check out the article 'LAMP made easy with XAMPP' on the NewsForge website.

You can get XAMPP from the Apache Friends website.
